COVID-19 Vaccine Now Available for Children Ages 5 through 11 in Prince George's County
The Prince George’s County Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Wayne K. Curry Sports and Learning Complex will stay open until 7:00 p.m. on Fridays and to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays to give families of children ages five and older more opportunities to get protected from the virus. In addition, the Health Department’s mobile vaccine clinic schedule at County high schools is expanding to include elementary schools starting Monday, November 8. Parents and legal guardians are also encouraged to contact their pediatrician’s office or their nearby pharmacy about vaccine appointments. To search nearby clinics, use the County’s vaccine locator.
Children Ages 5 to 11 Eligible for COVID-19 Booster Dose
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have authorized and recommended children ages 5 to 11 receive a booster/third dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least five months after receiving their second dose. Individuals 12 and older may also receive a booster dose of Pfizer. Second booster doses are authorized for all individuals 50 and older and for individuals 12 and older who have weakened immune systems.
