Corrections
Department of Corrections provides a safe, secure and humane environment for pre-trial and sentenced offenders. Additional services and programs include education, juvenile services, religious services, domestic violence, barber styling school, nail technician, women’s empowerment, substance abuse drug treatment, and community re-entry.
Fire/EMS
The Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (Fire/EMS) Department strives to improve the quality of life in Prince George’s County by promoting safety, and providing the highest quality of fire prevention, fire protection, emergency medical services, and community outreach programs.
Police
Formalized in 1927 as a four-man County police force, today our Police Department (PGPD) serves approximately 800,000 citizens throughout the County. In 2012, the Department answered close to 500,000 calls for service
Sheriff
The Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing services that are fair, impartial, and effective while incorporating the highest standards of personal conduct and performance. They employ skilled dedicated professionals, committed to public service.
Homeland Security
The Office of Homeland Security is responsible for planning, coordinating and domestic preparedness training and coordinates the county’s emergency management effort with various jurisdictions. There mission is to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency management programs.
