Formalized in 1927 as a four-man County police force, today our Police Department (PGPD) serves approximately 800,000 citizens throughout the County. In 2012, the Department answered close to 500,000 calls for service.

Department of Corrections provides a safe, secure and humane environment for pre-trial and sentenced offenders. Additional services and programs include education, juvenile services, religious services, domestic violence, barber styling school, nail technician, women’s empowerment, substance abuse drug treatment, and community re-entry.
