The Coalition for Public Safety Training in Schools, Inc. (CPSTS) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 2013, has as its mission, “to educate, advocate and foster development of Public Safety training in Prince George’s County schools, providing a pathway to service benefiting youth and the community.” Resourced by County and other private funding sources, its all-volunteer Board of Directors works to improve life for 13-18-year-old youth from undeserved communities. CPSTS provides funding for two local high schools supporting the Fire Science Cadet Program that could lead to employment as a County Firefighter/EMT. Additionally, CPSTS’ three staples: Public Safety Educational/Informational Tours Program (insider’s view of a 9-11 Call Center); Driver’s Education Scholarship Program (driver’s license earned and needed for Public Safety employment); and Life, Leadership, and Life Skills Program (mentoring, interview techniques, resume writing, time management, effective communications skills). CPSTS is fiscally sound and practices responsible governance and taxpayer accountability through excellence in programming and stewardship.
CPSTS relies on private support to fund
and maintain its education programs.
